	The next PTA general membership will be held on January 26th.
	PPS Seeks Input on Facility Improvements To recieve e-mail updates directly from PPS, go to http://www.pps.k12.or.us and click on the link at the bottom of the page "Receive e-mail updates." From the PPS e-mail list: Portland Ore. The Portland School Board is seeking public input on staff-developed criteria to prioritize major facility improvements across the district. Once finalized, the criteria will guide Portland Public Schools as it develops an ordered list for school renovations or rebuilding. PPS staff began 18 months ago to identify deficiencies and needs of the district's 85-plus schools, then presented the information at schools and worked with the public to develop recommendations for each building. The recommendations to rebuild or renovate largely depend on the overall condition of the buildings. The order of work, however, will depend on additional factors such as geographic location, prior commitments and the availability of temporary space, to name a few. There will be an opportunity for public testimony at the Sept. 29 school board meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Blanchard Education Service Center, 501 N. Dixon St. People who would like to address the school board should contact the school board office at 503-916-3741 to sign up to testify.
	Fall Play Parents, we need your help too! Auditions September 10th and 11th. Your student doesn't have to be involved for you to be included in getting this produced! Rehearsals will be Monday through Thursday after school, but not every part will have to report everyday.  We will try to schedule different characters on days available for them (working around other activities).  Performance dates are tentatively scheduled for Nov 12 - 15.  There will be a small activity fee donation requested from each participant ($5) on a voluntary basis. 	2008-2009 School Year Volunteer Chairs Needed: 1. Field Day - June 2. Teacher Conference Dinners - Nov 3. Run For The Arts - spring 4. Art Literacy 5. Outside Reader Board 6. Chinook Books - need a chair to take on this event now so we can sign up with the company early summer in order for the school to make the largest profit from the sale of the book. 7. 8th Grade Promotion - Start planning in Jan. 9. Keep in mind that you can sign up with a friend and Co-Chair.
