Need some ideas for getting your family more physically active? Do you want to make the most of your next parent-teacher conference? As a parent, you are the most important influence in your child's success in school and in life. In this role, you have a fresh opportunity ever day to get involved with your child. As the best resource for parents, PTA offers useful information to many thousands of parents just like you. PTA provides the resources and support you need to stay involved in the life of your child every day. Take a look through the categories within Parent Resources and learn about new ways you make a difference in your child's life. The categories are Student Achievement, Safety, Media and Technology, and Health and Wellness. Oregon Partnership -- a statewide non-profit organization promoting healthy kids and communities through drug and alcohol awareness, prevention programs, and a 24 hour crisis line for treatment referrals. We work with schools and community coalitions statewide, and our resource library is open to all to educate on the dangers of substance abuse. Scholastic -- The on-line and bookfair book store has a resource for Expert Advice about your Middle School Age Child. The article archive has such titles as "Making the Transition", "Moving Ahead in Math and Science", "What to Expect in Middle School", "Homework Help--How Much Help?", "I Finished My Homework", "Stop Schoolwork Struggles", and "Study Strategies". It's My Life - PBS Kids GO! -- PBS's new place for big kids! It gives information to teens about Friends, Family, School, Body, Emotions and Money. Under the School section are titles like "Middle School: Movin' On Up", and "Time Management: You Vs. The Clock" (which includes how to help your student make goals and a budget for their time), Under Emotions is an article entitled "Dealing With Anger". Under the Money section are articles on "Making Money", and "Managing Money". There are also some companion pages for Parents & Teachers.
