Why volunteer?

  • You will know how your children spend their day, so you can talk to them about it.
  • You will know the teachers and school staff outside of the few official meetings that happen over the course of the year.
  • You will know your children’s peers--not just the friends they bring home.
  • And most important, you will be helping support the school that is in partnership with you to help your child have the best, most successful life possible.

Liability

Please be sure to sign in at the office when you are volunteering. This protects you if you are injured while volunteering--but if you do not sign in, the district’s insurance will not cover you. Take a volunteer pin to identify you as a wonderful Robert Gray volunteer!

Note: PPS now requires parents who chaperone field trips or excursions with middle school students to fill out a criminal background form. The background check costs $5. See Peggy in the office for the form. (PTA will gladly cover the $5 fee for anyone who needs it, just ask.)
